BASEBALL

Josh Doney's three-run double and Jared Paones two-run double defeated a rally when St. Mary's (12-1) Bishop Fenwick defeated 6: 4 in the Catholic Central League. Shea Newhall got the victory with two goalless innings of relief and Doney came in the seventh to register the Save.

In Cape Ann League, Pat Stewart Eight and Julien Powers scored a few goals for two RBI for Power Pentucket (6: 6) for a 6-1 win against Essex Tech. … Luke Dissilvio threw a 2-grille with 11 strikes and also added three goals and three RBI when Lynnfield Newburyport excluded 12-0. … Ollie Thibeault was 5: 5, including a walk-off single in the 11th to give Georgetown a 5: 4 victory against Hamilton-Wenham.

The first baseball tournament on Don Fredericks Memorial Day will take place from May 23 to 24 at the Braintree High School. The event is named after Fredericks, the legendary former Braintree baseball trainer and the Miaa baseball tournament, which died last May after a short fight against cancer.

On the first day, Plymouth North and BC High meet with 4, followed by Westwood Brainttree at 6:30 p.m.

Ellie Russo and Brit Harding each had two goals when Reading became a 9-2 against Wilmington in a crossover competition in Middlesex.

Aliza Crean-Oviedo spoke 10 as St. Mary's (6-4) in the Catholic Central League 2-1 with 2-1.

In the non-League campaign, Edy Latour won, scored six and drove in two runs when Dighton-Rehoboth defeated Bridgewater-Raynham 6-2.

Riley Egan beat a Homer with three runs, as East Bridgewater Middleboro left 4: 3 in the South Shore League campaign.

Young lacrosse

In a non-league game, Crawford won 23 of 25 Faceoffs together with two goals, and Jack Quigley added a couple, including the game winner with 30 seconds, which remained as St. John's Preped La Salle (RI). … Cooper Dunham had six goals and three templates when Danvers anchored Tewksbury, 15-14. … Willy Robinson scored seven goals and three templates when Scitate (10-3) drove against Milton 17-6.

In the Nepsac, Max Becker recorded 20 parades and Connor O'Neil scored five goals and two templates when Pingree New Hampton defeated 9: 4.

Girl lacrosse

Holly Panttila scored three goals and four templates, while Margot Bonnevie and Charlise Cox added both hat tricks when Norwell scored a 16: 3 victory over Dover-Sherborn in Nonleague action. … Bella Duffy scored six goals, including the 250th of her career, defeated Pembroke with 15: 5.

In the Cape and Islands League, Julia Kipperman scored three templates 10 times when Nauset 15-14 St. John Paul II.
