Kerry Carpenter injury update: Detroit Tigers receive good news about outfield armpits

The Detroit Tigers outfield, Kerry Carpenter, has a “mild” thigh problem, but it doesn't seem that he needs a stay on the injured list.

Carpenter is not in the starting line -up for the game on Monday against the San Diego Padres in Comerica Park.

“We will manage it,” said Tiger's manager AJ Hint on Monday. “I think we'll go with him and see how he feels every day. I think for him and for us the tests were a good sign that it is mild. Nevertheless, there is something there, so we have to be smart. Therefore he is not in the line -up on Monday and then not in the line -up. On Monday and then he can be happy for us.”

Detroit Tigers Kerry Carpenter's outfield celebrates an RBI single against the Kansas City Royals in the fifth Inning in Comerica Park on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Carpenter felt the pain in the 4: 3 loss of Sunday in the 4-3 loss of Sunday in the series finale against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

Carpenter recorded his third goal of the game on a floor ball at the first Baseman Salvador Pérez, who mistakenly threw the ball to the helper Daniel Lynch, who tried to cover the bag. Carpenter ended the game 3-by-4 with an RBI.

Carpenter stayed in the game after the goal and switched to the second basis on an RBI single from Zach McKintry, which briefly gave the Tigers 3-2. He played in the left field in the eighth inn in the left field, but had no ball before entering the ninth inning.

Before the three-hit appearance on Sunday, Carpenter scored with five homes and 10 RBIs .290 (20 of 69). This season he performed in every game and mainly plays one of the outfield positions on the corner or as the designated bat.

The tigers already have a large number of injuries in the outer field. Center Field Field Meadows, who resumed a throwing program this week, remains until the end of May after he was put on the 60-day il with a nerve problem in his right bicep before the season.

“Fortunately, today's news was that it wasn't il,” said Hinch. “I think that's the best part of the conversation. But it is what it is. I don't love it. Nobody loves it. It doesn't feel good that you are planning A, Plan C, but we will go to every plan. We will go with it and we have the feeling that we can win today's game.
