NBA-Playoffs 2025: News, schedule, scores and highlights in the first round

The first round of tips for NBA Playoffs 2025 has started and fans can expect a post -season filled with a night.

Eight teams from every conference reach the first round and look at a best-of-Seven series to get ahead. All four rounds of the NBA playoffs are best-of-Seven, and the teams are not rated again after every round. The team with the better record of the regular season in every series has a lead for this series. All series are played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format with the team with the better record games 1, 2, 5 and 7 (if necessary).

After a historical season of the dominance, the Cleveland Cavaliers claimed No. 1 seeds in the east and stepped into the second round after no. 8 Miami Heat. The defending champion Boston Celtics ended the no. 2 seeds led by Jayson Tatum and reigning final MVP Jaylen Brown. The New York Knicks took place # 3, with No. 4 Indiana Pacers and No. 5 Milwaukee Bucks behind them. The Detroit Pistons, one of the biggest storylines of this season, return to the playoffs as No. 6.

In the west, the Oklahoma City Thunder landed number 1 for a second season in a row behind the MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and was the first team to move into the second round after he had turned the No. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies. The Houston Rockets, one of the most improved teams of the season, were in second place. Lebron James and Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a No. 3 seed, while the three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Denver Nuggets brought No. 4 seeds. The La Clippers ended in 5th place, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves No. 6.

We will cover the NBA playoffs up to the NBA final 2025 to June 5 on ABC and the ESPN app.
