Police detention suspects in hate crimes after glass bottles in the vehicle – Pasadena now

A 44-year-old homeless person was arrested on Saturday evening because he suspected of crimes and a hate crime after threw a glass bottle in a frauf vehicle in the 100 Block of the North Lake Avenue, said Sam de Sylva, police tutor from Pasadena.

According to Lt. De Sylva occurred on Saturday, May 3, around 8:14 p.m., when a 43-year-old wife of Monrovia and her four children aged 18, 14, 3 years left an Asian restaurant. When she bent south to the Mentor Avenue, the suspect threw a glass bottle on her vehicle and hit his back, reported de Sylva.

The victim left her car and confronted the suspect, who immediately apologized and explained that according to de Sylva, the victim was Asian. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers who arrived on the scene and arrested the suspects for assault and a hate crime, said de Sylva.

No injuries were reported to the victim or their children. The estimated damage to the vehicle exceeds 2,000 US dollars, according to de Sylva.

The suspect's name was not published immediately, but the police described him as a 44-year-old homeless African American.

De Sylva confirmed that the case was treated as a hate crime because the suspect admitted to target the victim due to his faith about their ethnicity.
