Luke d'Ancona, strath haven 'trend at the right time'

Nether Providence – If Strath Haven wants to make serious noises in the off -season, ass Luke d'Ancona will need its best side.

The Panthers got a look at how good this can be Monday.

D'Ancona, the Boston College commit and all-Delco right-handed, was sharp in his return to the hill, after missing a month of pitching activities, scored four over two inners and only gave up one goal and a walk on 35 parking spaces.

His third punchout was a milestone, the 200th strike of his fantastic career.

The crime ended more than what the Panthers held back temporarily in an uneven season. Alex Selverian made the big swing and crushed a Homer with three runs to support Power Strath Haven for a 9-1 victory. The Panthers scored 13 goals against Ridley Pitching.

D'Ancona had not set up since April 2 when he equipped 10 batteries over 3.1 Inning against Marple Newtown, but he had stayed in the middle of the Panthers list and played the first basis. A breast pollution prevented him from pitching, but after he had thrown a successful bullpen session last Friday, he was released to return to Ridley. Strath Havener Brian Fili kept him on a narrow number of pitch to put him into action again.

“It felt really good to be back on the hill. Obviously the team worked hard while I wasn't there and we got a lot better,” said D'Ancona. “So I knew that when I came back and giving the team this boost that we would have a great field behind me … … the stuff was there, but a month to take from pitching, I didn't think so much about my mechanics. Pitching is exhausting and I was tired to help only from the Bullpen on Friday.

After d'Ancona Luke Ladislaw had scored for his 200 K, he was right in the eye for the rest of the second inning. When Logan Bubb directed the third Baseman Wolf Boswick to end the inning, D'Ancona pushed the ball up and put it in his back pocket. Under no circumstances did he let this milestone souvenir get away.

“I pursued it all the time just to make sure I got this ball,” he said. “It's the only time I really wanted to keep a ball.”

The Junior Selverian grabbed a burglary in a large way and bored a three-run rocket over the left field fence to spark a six-run third innerning for Strath Haven (7-6, 7: 4) against Ridley Starter Jake Mansfield.

“I was in a break -in for a while, so it felt really good to get back into a rhythm and bring a good swing to the ball,” said Selverian, who also won and scored twice. “Most of my outs were like weak fly failures, so I concentrated on the middle and the management trips on the back, just everything to get to the baseball. In this situation, it is something that we always work during the impact practice – with less than two outs and one man in third place, they have to drive the ball outwards so that I had to concentrate on the in advance and the job.” “My job.

D'Angona, Rob Mattai, Eli Price and Patrick O'Connor all had a double for the Panthers. The Leadoff -Hitter Ben Milligan scored, scored two runs and steel a few bases. Mattai added two RBIs.

Caden Shuster, Jasper Hals and Mattai have teamed up to cover the last five inner rings to facilitate d'Ancona and enlarge eight rashes between them. Ridley (7-8, 5-6) scratched his only run in the fifth Bobby Doherty-Rbi-Single.

D'Ancona is no stranger to the big stage. In the second year he was the No. 2 arm in a strath Haven team that reached the Piaa Class 5a final in the Penn State. He helped the Panthers to conquer a title of district 1 and several crowns of the Central League. This season was more of a climb, with Haven probably repeated as a league master. But when the performance was a sign on Monday, the Panthers become a dangerous excursion when the playoffs roll around the districts. On the way to Monday, Haven was ninth place in the Power ranking of District 1, with the Top 12 brought in a post -season.

“We have the feeling that our best baseball is still ahead of us,” said D'Ancona. “We have the feeling that we are in trend at the right time and everything starts to click. We all work together and we all try to beat for the next man to make sure that we are based on each other and always pick up each other. It feels like we are playing our best baseball in May and hopefully coming until June. I know that it will be a really fun end of the season.”
