The preservation emphasizes the New Bedford Aha Night on May 8th

The Aha night in New Bedford is a monthly celebration of art, history and architecture of the city.

The Aha night falls on May 8th of this month with a variety of mostly free activities for young and old activities. Kim Goddard, Executive Director, said that Aha Night was a prelude to Art Week SouthCoast, which runs from May 8th to May 18th.

Goddard said the Waterfront Historic Area League (Whale) has been at the center of the conservation efforts in New Bedford for many years.

“You will debut your brand new, self -guided tour on May 8, which is supported by an app that can download the public,” said Goddard. “It debut in the Aha night in Selmar Eggers Building in the 1 Johnny Cake Hill.”

Goddard said that the app contains details about all the conservation efforts of whale in the city center, which are all accessible.

Goddard said Aha also carried out his own tour through what she described as “hidden gemstones” in the AHA night plan to help people who are not sure what aha is about. The tour begins at 6 p.m. at Custom House Square.

Other highlights are waterfront tours of the historical schooner Ernestina-Morrisy and the New Bedford Public School Art Show with works of art from elementary school students to high school. It happens in the Paul Rodrigues administration building in the County Street.

Live music are also presented in the entire city center: Americana Music am Wings Court, Electric Blues and Rock on the Pour Farm and the Buttonwood Brass Band in the Harbor Hotel.

Also on the agenda will be several discussions about art, a presentation about The Barnacle, a publication about fishing in the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center and entertaining activities for children.

“Aha Night is a great way to start spring,” said Goddard.
