President will facilitate import tax on the US car manufacturers

President Donald Trump will take measures to facilitate the effects of his tariffs on US automobile manufacturers, says a top official of the White House.

“This deal is a great victory for the president's trade policy by rewarding companies that are produced in Germany,” said Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick in a statement that the Reuters news agency was presented.

The president will announce measures to reduce some import duties in parts from abroad that are used in the vehicles produced in the USA.

While cars that were produced outside the country continue to be subject to automatic tariffs, they are freed from other taxes, the Wall Street Journal previously reported.

Trump will hold a rally to Michigan on Tuesday to mark his first 100 days in office.

The state houses the so -called Detroit three Kaburen – Ford, General Motors (GM) and Stellantis – and a network of more than 1,000 main providers in the industry.

Mary Barra, managing director of GM welcomed the development.

“We are President Trump grateful for his support for the US automotive industry and the millions of Americans who are dependent on us,” she told the BBC in an e -mail declaration.

“We appreciate the productive discussions with the president and his administration and look forward to working together.”

Ford and Stellantis did not immediately respond to inquiries about comments.

Last week, a coalition of the US motor industrial groups asked the president not to impose a tariffs of 25% for imported auto parts.

In a letter to his administration of groups that represent companies such as GM, Toyota and Volkswagen, the taxes will “lead to higher car prices for consumers, reduce sales from dealers and make the maintenance and repair of vehicles more expensive”.

Trump had previously said that the tariffs would come into force by May 3.
