The Mexican law enforcement agencies observe after a potential background after the renowned leader of the “Old School” faction of the Barrio Azteca gang was shot down in a car with two of his children in Juárez.

Martin Alonso Bustos Rodriguez, alias “El Tin”, was killed at a shootout when he was stopped on the Manuel Gomez Morin Boulevard on Saturday afternoon on April 26.

During the press conference of the state police on Monday morning, April 28th, Chihuahua State Police Control chief Luis Aguirre confirmed that Bustos was ambush as the man in the street.

“It is important to stay attentive, and we will continue to work and take measures to prevent any type of violence from increasing violence,” said Aguirre, adding that the operations with state and local police, the Mexican army and the national guard will continue.

Shortly after the attack, the state police found the abandoned investigator of the rifle and crime science that could lead to the murderers, added Aguirre. An investigation continues.

Bustos drove with a Gray Kia Forte when he received at least 23 gunshot wounds at a shootout, in which his 18-year-old daughter was also killed and his 12-year-old son was wounded, reported the Norte Digital News website.

In 2022, Bustos survived, after he was supposedly targeted a street shooting, in which his lawyer Sully Ponce, a former prosecutor, had been killed, who made a trip after receiving his release from the Attorney General, reported El Heraldo de Chihuahua.

The Barrio Azteca gang, known as “Los Aztecas” in Mexico, was founded in the prison system in Texas almost 40 years ago. The gang works with a hierarchy in a military style on both sides of the borderland of Juárez-El Paso.

About seven years ago, a separation undergailed a division within the gang with a faction, which is known as “Aztecas Vieja Escuela” or “Old School” or “Old Guard”. It is unclear whether the gap still exists.
