Mrs. fatally shot on Indys West Side; 40-year-old man in custody

Indianapolis – A woman was fatally shot on the west side of Indianapolis on Saturday evening, the police said.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the officials reacted to a report of a person shortly after 8:00 p.m. to the 7400 block of the W. St. Clair Street.

Officials came and discovered the adult female victim in a vehicle. It was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported on a male suspect who fled the area before the officials arrived. Shortly afterwards, the fast actions of the IMPD led to the suspect's concern. Despite initial resistance, the police said that he had been detained with an electronic control unit.

IMPD murder detectives and the Forensic Services Agency from Indianapolis-Marion County examine to determine the circumstances of the shootout. The Coroner's Office of the Marion County will announce the identity of the victim after being notified by relatives.

The arrested suspect, a 40-year-old man, was identified due to the cooperation of the witnesses and evidence that were collected on site.
