Badgers News: John Tonje is invited to the NBA design

The NBA published its list of 75 players who were invited to the NBA design of 2025 at the beginning of this week, and Wisconsin Badgers Star Guard John Tonje received an invitation and received the chance to present his sportiness in the next part of the design process.

Tonje, an all-American this year, had an outstanding season with an average of 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, while he shot 46.5 percent out of the field and 38.8 percent as a leader of a top 15 team in the nation.

He was a revelation after achieving only 2.6 points per game in eight competitions for the Missouri Tigers in 2023-24 before declining with an injury at the end of the season. Now he will get his chance to impress in the combine harvester in the hope of being selected in the NBA design of the next month.

A remarkable name that did not make the combine list was Star Guard John Blackwell, which points out that he is probably not benefited this off -season. Blackwell had decided to test the water and maintain feedback, but kept his college authorization and claimed that he would only return to Wisconsin if he did not go to the Pro route.

With the lack of a combine invitation, the return to Wisconsin should be the expectation for Blackwell.

The Badgers did a lot of work in this low season in the transfer portal. In addition to the San Diego State Transfer Nick Boyd, Blackwell's return should combine him on the retreat, so that he can be an off-ball player in 2025-26.
