Simi Valley, California – – – A small plane with the house building that had crashed on Saturday afternoon in Simi Valley, California, damaged two houses, caught fire and killed two people and a dog on board, said officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration said

NOTE: The Ventura County fire brigade initially said she was the pilot the only person on board. In a later update, Simi Valley PD said two people and a dog had died.

The pilot died in the accident, said Andrew Dowd, a public information officer of Ventura County, reporters at a press conference. A passenger also died, the department later said in a statement.

“The PD of the Simi Valley PD in coordination with the medical examiner office has checked whether there were two passengers on the plane, both of whom were fatally injured in the accident,” said the fire brigade in a statement.

According to the fire brigade, around 40 firefighters were sent and the flames were brought out.

At the time of the crash, there were people in the two houses, but they were not injured, said Dowd.

Shelby Joice told ABC News that she lives on the other side of the street, from where the plane crashed. She said she and her mother looked away when they heard what went over like a helicopter.

“Suddenly we heard a big crash and our entire house started to tremble. We actually thought that something fell into our house,” said Joyce.

She said they had seen a “big, massive fireball” and black clouds of smoke.

The plane drove from William J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster and, according to FAA, drove to Camarillo Airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board will guide the examination and work with the FAA.

The Simi Valley is about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
