Warren Buffett, the managing director of Berkshire Hathaway, said he would resign from this position by the end of the year.

The 94 -year -old Mr. Buffett converted Berkshire Hathaway, once a textile company, into a powerful business investor and made billions on the way.

August 30, 1930

The 'Oracle of Omaha'

In August 1930, Mr. Buffett was born in Omaha as the son of Leila and Howard Buffett, an investment banker and future Republican congress member.

At the age of 9 he started studying the stock market.

“I used to draw all types of shares the more, the better,” he told Times Magazine in 1990.

He studied at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Nebraska and the Columbia Business School before returning to Omaha.
