Edel water goes down the drainage, while the Parvati Nagar pipeline licks for 10 days

Nagpur: Apart from the unusual rain of the past two days, the city has sizzled under the very summer. Even if the city stares at the water shortage, the residents of Parvati Nagar in Kalamna watch helpless thousands of liters of clean, treated water that goes down every day.
While the water shortage inspires several parts of the city in Parvati Nagar, four large leaks in a newly laid water pipeline have not been repaired for over ten days. The spilled water floods houses and damages property, apart from the fact that they attract snakes and scorpions to residential areas.
The leaky line was placed under the Amrut 2 project about six months ago. The locals claim that the problems began when the line was charged about ten days ago, which triggered several leaks across the route. “There are four important leak points,” Nilesh Tighhar, a district in Yuva Sena, told toi. He listed the leakage as near Mohtura layout, in Parvati Nagar, near a street that turns in the area and in front of the school, and in front of the school. “At each place, the water flows continuously when the line is opened for two hours. Multiply it by four and you will understand the expansion of the waste.”
Toi tried to contact officials from the NMC waterworks department, but did not react. The residents claim that they have informed the Department of Waterworks shortly after the problem, but their symptoms were ignored. “I even spoke to the supervisor and other officials. They recognized the problem, but did not take any measures,” said Tighare.
Tighare, who visited the website after receiving several emergency calls, said: “This is unexcused. In an area in which people get drinking water every day, thousands of liters are wasted for negligence. It is a crime against people.”
After his inspection, Tighare approached the zonal offices. “Officials from the water work department of NMC admitted that the matter was brought to the termination earlier, but no measures were taken. The official affected then made the application to complete the water supply line until the repairs were carried out,” said Tighhar.
In the meantime, the residents live under horrific conditions. Soil floors have turned into swampy zones. “We should save water, but our houses are flooded with it. And if we request tankers with actual bottlenecks, we are asked to wait for days,” said a resident.
