Three dead in the early morning Pitt County Crash

Pitt County, NC (Witn) – Three people are dead in Pitt County after a crash in the early morning.

According to SGT. Bullard with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, soldiers, went to a car accident on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. near the Keel Road.

Officials said the car drove north towards Greenville, when a curve came over the center line, ran to the left of the street and hit a ditch. After hit the ditch, the officials said that the car had overturned and all three people were thrown out of the car.

Sgt. Bullard says that the driver, 23-year-old Kayleigh Blackburn from Durham and one of the passengers, 47-year-old Daniel Kirby from Vanceboro, were declared dead at the crime scene.

The other passenger, 30-year-old Samuel Cruz from Tarboro, was brought to the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, where he later died of his injuries.

According to officials, alcohol and/or drugs and speed are also considered factors in the crash.
