Illinois man gets 53 years because he killed the Palestinian American boy – Asemnews

Joseph Czuba, a landlord in Illinois, was sentenced to 53 years in prison for the murder of 6-year-old Wade Alfayoumi and his mother Hanan Shaheen. The stitches were prosecuted as hate crimes.

According to the NBC News, Czuba was convicted of murder, heavy battery and hate crimes in February. Wade, a Palestinian American boy, was stabbed 26 times. His mother was repeatedly stabbed, but survived.

Prosecutors said that the family had rented rooms in the house in Czuba in Plainfield Township when he started in anti-Muslim rants. Czuba supposedly said to Shaheen: “As a Muslim, you have to die” and accused her people of having killed Jewish children.

Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak sentenced him to 30 years for murder, 20 for attempted murder and 3 for hatred. Czuba appeared frail in court and refused to speak.

As reported by the BBC, a family member said in court: “No judgment will justify Wade's death. His father had memories and dreams for him. Czuba had no right to take her.”

The case renewed the concerns about anti-Muslim hatred. Wade had recently become six and was reminded as joyful and actively reminded. Czuba did not know so guilty. His legal team tried to leave the judgment, but the judge submitted the application.
