Man who is charged with the kayak death of the woman

A man was charged with murder and fraud after a woman fell on water four years ago on a popular lake north of Brisbane.

On November 27, 2020, a 55-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman at Lake Samsonvale near Forgan Cove in the Moreton Bay region were kayaking when the woman reported and drowned.

Witnesses and emergency services tried to revive the woman with CPR, but she could not be saved and was declared deceased at the crime scene.

Initially considered an accidental drowning, further inquiries led the police and detectives to suspect that the death of the woman was suspicious.

The Operation Victor Harlow carried out a “complex” investigation of the circumstances in connection with the death of women, including the conditions of the lake, when the couple were kayaking and information from witnesses.

The police arrested the 55-year-old man on Sunday, May 4, when he visited Brisbane from his house in Thailand.

He was charged with murder (domestic violence), fraud and attempted fraud.

The police will say that the man is involved in the death of the 54-year-old woman.

Steve Windsor, the acting inspector of Queensland, said that the authorities had nothing to be unexpected when he examined the death of the woman.

“Incidents are not always what they seem at the beginning, so I thank the detectives for their hardworking work in this lengthy and tedious examination,” he said.

“Due to her stubborn work, we have justice for the woman who died tragically both on this day and in her family.”

He demanded everyone who sees something suspicious to report it to the police, “even if he looks insignificant”, since it can “be an important piece for the puzzle in an examination”.

“The police will always thoroughly examine serious matters, no matter how long they can take,” he said.

The 54-year-old man was rejected on May 5th.
