For thousands of years, Moose has crossed rivers, navigated the forests navigated on the thawing forests and quietly followed the old paths in the summer willows in northern Sweden.

A 24-hour live stream gave millions of spectators in the inner city seats to observe every unpleasant step of the trip.

But on Sunday evening the seventh season of the Stora Älgvandringen (the great moose migration, also translated as the big moose hike), after almost three weeks of uninterrupted film material over SVT Play, the platform of the Sweden National Broadcaster, was streamed.

Since its debut in 2019, the series has grown into a cultural phenomenon of a niche -public -Rundfunk experiment that attracts almost 9 million viewers in 2024.

“We are very satisfied,” said Johan Gaag, project manager of SVT for the series. He confirmed that the team has taken up 478 hours of film material with 26 remote cameras, seven night vision and drone streaming uninterrupted film material since its start on April 15.

The last exhibition of the season ended on Sunday at 10 p.m. local time, whereby cameras recorded 70 moose (also known as European moose), which crossed spring by the Sweden Ã…ngerman River – about 180 miles north of Stockholm.

The great moose migration is part of a growing fascination for “Slow TV” a genre that drove out in 2009 when North Norway radiated a seven-hour train ride from Bergen to Oslo in real time.

Since then, the concept has found a cult status throughout Europe, with programs with 12-hour knitting marathons, a 134-hour seafaring and even a crackling fireplace current that cited the British charts from Netflix on Boxing Day.

SVT has paid its popularity and even sent push notifications when the first moose appears, while a committed Facebook group with more than 76,000 members now shares sightings, screenshots and speculations about the next appearance.

Although official consideration figures for this year's season do not yet have to be published, SVT has already confirmed that the moose will return for an eighth edition next spring.
