A short story of the DJI action camera's

Do you remember the time when DJI had a Phantom 2 with a GoPro Hero 3? Not me either, but I think it was at that moment (2013) that DJI decided to develop her own action camera in order to obtain a lot of action cam market.

It was only 6 years later when DJI introduced the OSMO action to fight the GoPro Hero 6 at that time. And let's be honest, yes, the Osmo was cheaper than the GoPro, but it couldn't compete with the perfect image quality of GoPro. DJI quickly decided to try something new with The Action 2, and although it was so small, it was an overheating disaster that did not take long. Fortunately, the story changed with the DJI Osmo Action 3, in which people appreciate the results and performance of a DJI action cam.

But wait, the new player joined the game

While DJI was busy creating the DJI Osmo Action 3 to compete with the GoPro Hero 10. A small Chinese company called Arashi Vision Inc. has been creating impressive 360 ​​-degree camera systems since 2015. You could also know this company as an Insta360. You successfully bypassed the GoPro Fusion (2018) camera with your superior Insta360 X2 in 2020 and created a small and user -friendly 360 action camera.

Rumors about a DJI Osmo 360 in late 2024

Fast lead to this day; GoPro still sells normal action camera like the GoPro 13, but recently switched to the sale of the cheap GoPro Max 360 (349). A nice step of GoPro, but Insta360's reaction was to quickly present their sophisticated insta360 x5 (at 549) and also to lower the prices of the Insta360 x4 to 469. In the meantime, nobody still heard anything on the DJI Osmo 360, so I asked myself: Will they even go through it?

On October 18, we finally received proof that DJI developed her own 360 camera. The DJI Osmo 360 was seen in the FCC recordings and drawings were shared within one day. Today, 6 months later, my friend Hakasushi shared all the pictures and even parts of the manual with the world. Some functions: The same battery as OSMO campaign 3, 4 and 5 is used. They copied the mirror design of the X3 and it has practically the same design as the GoPro Max 360.

DJI Osmo 360 will come soon, right?

Although we can all speculate about specifications and start data, I am not sure whether DJI is entering the market with this camera. I can't find early leaks in web stores, several sources have never received it and it is therefore even a better hidden secret than the DJI Mavic 4 or DJI Mini 5. Price. You cannot offer him a dollar above the GoPro Max 360, which is currently at Amazon 349. And the latest Trump tariffs will destroy the likelihood of the success of the sale of DJI camera in the states.
