Iran revised Port Blast fatalities to 57, arrested 2 for safety errors-xinhua

Tehran, May 4 (Xinhua) – Iran revised the fatalities of a large explosion at its main sports port of 70 on Sunday at the end of the last month, while State Television reported two arrests in connection with the explosion.

The news agency of the semi -official Tasnim cited the highest judge Mojtaba Qahremani of the province of Hormozgan with the words that updated personality for the explosion on April 26th in the port of Shahid Rajaee comprises 46 safe and identified body and 11 people who are still missing.

Qahremani explained that the initial number had been reduced after forensic studies found that some of the parts of the body were one of them. A special working group has been set up to track the missing people, he added.

The explosion and the subsequent fire violated more than 1,200 people, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, which ended the search and rescue efforts on the premises on Sunday.

The authorities have pointed out security errors that contribute to the incident. In a declaration of provincial crisis management, failures to observe security and passive defense measures were cited, while Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni referred to “certain negligence” last Monday.

Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern province of Hormozgan is the largest maritime hub of the Iranian hub and takes care of the vast majority of the country's container traffic and more than half of its entire trade.
