Taylor Swift said she made a moral statement with a song. She revealed the news she wanted to convey.

She wrote songs about Early Heartbreak on Taylor Swift's debut album. Swift referred to their real relationships and separations. She said that two songs on the album recorded different approaches for separations. One was angry while another made a “moral statement” about fraud.

Taylor Swift said one of her songs made a “moral statement” about relationships

Swift wrote the song “Should have said no” about the painful end of a relationship. One of her former friends cheated on her and the stitch was a fountain of inspiration.

“I wrote this song alone and I literally only took 20 minutes to take it,” she said in 2008 to Great American Country.

Another song on the album, “Picture to Burn”, dealt with the end of a relationship, even though it took a different perspective. Swift explained that “to burn the picture” an “angry and I am with the HIM-HIM posture”, while “should have said no” rather “a moral statement”.

“It is a 'I love you, we were great and great together, but you screwed it up and I was still with you,” said Swift. “You said yes and you should have said no.”

Both songs received critical recognition.
