Crime from the Chicago region: police who examined at least 10 burglaries for small companies in Woodridge, Downers Grove; Crimes recorded on video

Woodridge, Ill. (WLS) – Several companies were targeted by burglars in the southwestern suburbs, the police said on Sunday.

It was a frustrating day for many small companies. At least ten different shops were hit between Woodridge and Downers Grove overnight.

Many of the companies now have a lack of cash register and costly repairs on the shop fronts.

“Today is very frustrating because it is the weekend,” said Ryan Yu, owner of New Chinese Kitchen.

The typical busy rush for companies on a Sunday was hindered by the brazen burglaries overnight, which took place in the southwestern suburbs.

The monitoring video fell in the moment when a group of criminals smashed into Michoacana through an ice cream parlor. The video showed how to run into the shop and from the register money from the register from the register before just doing the same in a shopping center from the Woodward Avenue in Dawner's Grove.

It is a concerned trend that the police warned in the past few weeks and more overnight happened on the street in Woodridge.

“At 5:30 a.m. we got a Call Front ADT that an alarm matter was happening and we thought it was a false alarm,” said Shabbir Amiraly, owner of the FMB Grocery Store.

Amiraly and his wife arrived in their grocery on Sunday morning to find broken glass and to lack money.

“We have been here for over nine years and we have never had this problem, so I don't know that it is very surprising,” said Amiraly.

The Chinese restaurant from Yu next door was also broken into, stolen with hundreds of dollars, and it was also a great success in her operations on Sunday, since her order system was broken.

“Taking orders is very difficult,” said Yu. “We cannot print tickets. We have to take phones and write back on the basics and things, so it's very difficult.”

The 10 companies that were hit by the burglaries overnight added a long list of burglaries and grave slumps that took place in Mokena and Tinley Park a few weeks ago.

“The trouble, the broken glass, we have to repair it and we have to deal with insurance companies,” said Yu. “We have to deal with many things.”

The small entrepreneurs said that they would go out to protect their business.

“A small company like us, you know, a mother and a pop, I mean, it only adds more output,” said Amiraly.

Nobody was arrested and the police continue to investigate whether all burglaries are connected to the same suspects.
