Mets waste value opportunities when Cardinals Doubleheader deserve sweep

St. Louis – The Mets hits in two games on Sunday suggested that they could easily win both, but the inability to end the business brought them to swept.

Most of the time they moved in with runners on the basis.

Initially, the meters fell back to a comeback by loading the bases and the binding run in the last two inner inner rings in a defeat against the Cardinals in the Busch Stadium at a double header with 6: 5 against the cardinals in third place.

In the night tongue, they wasted opportunities in the Middle Innings in a 5: 4 defeat in the series rubber game.

The METS, which have lost in five games in five games in two games for the first time, have successive series loss for the first time this season.

The Mets had 10 hits in every game on Sunday and left 12 or 10 runners on the base.

“We had chances and hit the balls hard – it didn't go on our way today,” said manager Carlos Mendoza.

In the night tendon, Tylor Megill pushed through five inner sings, in which he allowed four deserved runs with four goals and three walks with six strikeouts.

After the Mets gathered 4: 2 in the third inning with 4: 2, the cardinals banged it against Megill in the bottom of the frame.

Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn went before Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras each delivered an RBI single.

The Grounder of Arenado – generously as a single – could easily have been the third of the inning, but Mark Vientos hit Pete Alonso, scored the barrel and expanded the inning for the delivery of contreras.

“I was somehow impressed in these Middle Innings,” said Megill, referring to the two walks that he had approved in the fourth.

Juan Soto was denied a Homer with three runs in fourth when Victor Scott II reached over the midfield fence to rob him.

The meters left the bases loaded in the inning.

The METs also left two runners in the fifth inning on the base.

“I think we did a really good job to put on people,” said Soto. “Unfortunately we didn't go through the large basis -but overall we did pretty good work.”

Soto said he thought his ball was a Homer.

“I made it hard enough to go out,” he said.

Max Kranick was marked in the sixth RBI double for the starting start in the sixth day.

Alec Burleson's two-run home in the second put the meters in a 2-0 hole before sending nine batters to the plate in third place to build their lead.

Alonso fogged in one run before Starling Marte delivered a single with two runs, and Francisco Alvarez 'Grounder brought a fourth run through the right side.

Blade Tidwell had a shaky major League debut in game 1.

In addition, Jesse Winker traveled with what the team called as a discomfort.

Winker, who started game 1 in the left field, was the primary DH of the team this season.

Winker received an MRI test in its inclined number and will return to New York for further tests.

Mendoza expects Winker to be placed on the injured list.

Over 3 ²/₃ Innings, Tidwell gave up six deserved runs with nine goals and three walks with two strikes.

He was removed after throwing 82 parking spaces.

Tidwell said he had to do better conditions in the count.

The METs gathered in the eighth and ninth inner sings, but every time the binding run left in the scoring position.

They scored twice before they had the bases loaded.

In total, the Mets were 3-on-15 with runners in the goal position in game 1.

Tidwell switched off the cardinals in the fourth.

Burleson went to load the bases, Donovan stroked an RBI single and arenado.

Contreras followed with a single with two runs that put the Mets in a 6-2 hole and ended Tidwell's afternoon.

Jeff McNeil ran the sixth place and after Luisangel Acuña's single was achieved on Francisco Lindors RBI Fielder's Choice.

But with the chance that the meters will get closer to after Lindor reached second place at Jose Barrero's Worffebeiten, Soto was caught in a second appearance of the straight plate when looking at strike three, the threat was completed.

Lindor's two-run single in the eighth against Phil Maton got the mets within 6-5.

But the meters left the bases loaded in the inning when Alonso joined in an eight hub bat against Linfty Jojo Romero and Dimmo.

In the ninth year Vientos brought off against the narrower Ryan Helsley, but the pinch of Runner Marte was stranded on the third basis.

Mendoza stated that it was a difficult series to lose in view of the number of chances presented by the METS.

“Sometimes it can be a little frustrating,” said Mendoza. “But you can't do anything about it. We have to continue what we should do, what controls the strike zone and the balls beats hard.”
