The decor and the clothes were happy and bright.

But a darker urgency note also ran through the West Seattle Food Bank'S “Nourish and bloomFundraising dinner and auction last night.

Food, clothing and housing uncertainty are “injustices (the WSFB) in their source,” observed Board President Joe EverettOpening of the program with short remarks to those who are gathered in West Seattleite Dsquared'S 4105 Event room in Sodo. “This is our mission … We couldn't do it without them, especially at the moment, at this moment … there are signs that more families will need help in the coming months and years; sources (funding) will disappear … So much chaos.” Here is everything he said:

The executive director of the Food Bank of 24 years, Fran Yeatsrepeated what Everett had said about “chaos (in this) point in history”. She said that the condition of things left her “nervously over the world”, even though she experienced and comfort in her own life, and in this sense she wondered loudly, how must it be for neighbors who experience needs?

Hundreds were there to do what they could to answer the needs, starting with their ticket purchase, to continue to offer in a silent auction and to pay for the previous evening, then to offer in the live auction designated by Emcee Ian Lindsaywith objects from exotic kenications to dinner and cocktail parties organized by WSFB leaders (the Margaritas-and-Tacos party with YEATS and Lester YUH sold twice, each for 2,000 US dollars).

After the live auction and Geriac'Inspirational introduction to people WSFB has helped, a round “Raise the Paddle” for donations brought more than 100,000 US dollars.

However, this is a fraction of the increasing costs for the food bench (£ 2.6 million food in the past year was only the beginning).

How one of the season exhibited in 4105 was assembled with a season, WSFB spends “up to $ 1 million a year for emergency and care support” to try to prevent people from being treated. It is Clothesline The clothing bank distributes more than 85,000 clothing every year. And you may not know that WSFB also distributes home food food – thousands of pounds every year.

Generous quantities have done their best to check in. A table even collected 5,000 US dollars for the first choice under a table with delicious delicacies (all donated) in the “Dessert -Fittorenbrett”.

Everything helps, said moderator Lindsay, whereby so many people “live directly on the side where something small can push them off the edge”.

The generosity was also shown by numerous local companies that donated auction objects and/or served as an event sponsors. The latter list contained WSB again this year, and it was also honored to accept the WSFB's anniversary Changemaker AwardAccepted by her editor after joining Fran Yeats on the room center stage:

The award was for WSB, but particularly moving in the face of our co -founder Patrick Sand Half a year ago. Von Patrick, the award in the event program, said: “With his camera in his hand and heart, he was sure that our work at West Seattle Food Bank – and which was seen, supported and celebrated by so many other organizations.”

That has always been the heart of our work (and that's why we had reported the event as we did in recent years, even if we hadn't been there to accept the Changemaker Award).

One last word about the event of the last night: The participants were admonished to invite their friends, colleagues and relatives to support the WSFB mission with them. You can do this with money by going here, donating food/clothing during sales times or going here voluntarily.
