Hamilton County Sheriff identifies the retired MPs and killed on duty

Cincinnati (WKRC) – Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey identified and killed the retired deputy on Friday while working in a traffic detail for a UC final celebration.

He was identified as Larry Henderson. He retired last year, but still served as a special deputy.

The driver, identified by the police as a 38-year-old Rodney Junior, appeared on Saturday morning and was charged with severe murder. He is accused of deliberately hit Henderson, not long after Body Cam Video was released when Hinton's son was shot by a police officer in Cincinnati during a stolen car investigation. The 18 -year -old Ryan Hinton died of his injuries.

McGuffey said Henderson was a deputy for 33 years.

“In the early term of Deputy Henderson as the deputy of the sheriff, I recognized his talent for teaching and the presentation. Larry began his journey as Sheriff's office trainer at the beginning of his career. He developed an expertise and became an excellent coach. Then he formed divisions of the Hamilton Count's Office. Honor of Larry's life of the service.”

Henderson worked in several specialized units, including academy instructors, Dive team member, FBI Task Force Officer and the Bomb Unit.

On Sunday a handful of people came over to expand the monument created for the deputy Henderson, where he was hit and killed on Friday. One of these people was Ward Heilbronn.

“It broke my heart, it's a tragedy,” said Heilbronner.

Heilbronner says he is a friend and employee of Henderson's son.

“I only know that his father had to be a damn man and a wonderful person, exactly what his son is,” said Heilbronner.

He told Local-12 News that he saw pictures of the bleak amount of flowers in the monument this weekend. So he says he wanted to do something to change that.

“A group of employees and I got together and collected some money so that we can bring more flowers and bring a little more life to this monument and make sure that everyone who drives by knows that they are well supported,” Heilbronn.

Flowers, candles and even handwritten cards were seen in the monument on Sunday shortly before 7 p.m.

“Some of them are living plants, we not only have flowers, so it would be really cool if the community continues here and on days when it doesn't rain, pour out here and pour the flowers and have kept this monument alive,” said Heilbronner.

On Friday, Teresa Theetge, police chief of Cincinnati, assured the public that a thorough and precise examination would be carried out.

“I think it will be in such situations to keep people's trust in the neighborhoods,” said Peterson Mingo, Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church.

According to Mingo, most of its communities are patient when the examination takes place.

“I think that will transform the site and bring many people to their own conclusions,” said Mingo.

The sheriff's office says that Henderson's badge number 129 will be retired.

According to the Sheriff's office, the funeral agreements for Deputy Henderson will be shared in the near future in the near future.
