What you should pay attention to in WPIAL Sports on April 29, 2025: Section title races beat FEVER PITCH

From:

Tuesday, April 29, 2025 | 12:25 p.m.

The section series between North and South rival ends a winner-all competition on Tuesday.

South Park had a dramatic comeback victory on Monday to keep the section's crown hopes alive. Now the Eagles have to beat the defending champion Avonworth again, this time.

The Antilopes will organize the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. in section 2-3a championship game.

Avonworth had the chance to win the crown on Monday, but gave up an early lead of five runs and lost 8: 7 on the new lawn in South Park.

The big comeback left both teams 8-1 on the section.

Another team who wants to take a huge step on Tuesday to win her section is Serra Catholic.

Serra defeated Bishop Canevin on Monday, 4-1, at home to take over the sole possession of first place in Section 3a.

If the Eagles can win again, you will only have to sweep the Seawickley Academy next week to win the section crown directly.

However, a Crusaders home win on Tuesday could set up a three-way draw for the section title between Bishop Canevin, Serra Catholic and Eden Christian Academy.

Double showdown

After all, the two best teams in Wpial Section 3-3a Softball do not even meet, but twice in a Doubleheader for the new lawn field, as South Park with Charleroi.

The Eagles are one of four remaining unbeaten team in the district with an overall record of 15: 0, including 8: 0 in the section.

These are the last two section games for South Park. All the Eagles need is a victory to win the section of the section from the section.

The Cougars are in section 4-2 and a total of 6-6.

They won two and four of their last five games.

If Charleroi would sweep the Douleheader, he would win the section crown because both teams bound and black and red would have the tiebreaker.

However, if the Cougars were turned, they could plunge to third place with two remaining games.

Both teams won class 3a together with McGuffey and Keystone Oaks Playoff.
