The much -related demonstration against the suspension of the Supreme Richter Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo as well as other national concerns, including the mass cancellation of the public service by President John Dramani Mahama, has started to gather the demonstrators dressed in red and black clothes in front of the premise of the Supreme Court.

The demonstration, organized by political parties and led by the new Patriotic Party (NPP) under the Banner #savethejudiciaryydemo, aims to increase a strong defense of the nation's constitution and maintain the independence of the judiciary.

Some remarkable figures from the NPP have already arrived at the venue, such as the minority leader of the parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin; Stepen Amoah, including the MP for Nhyiaeso.

The political parties: the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), the National Democratic Party (NDP), the Volks National Party (PNP) and the new Patriotic Party (NPP) are marching from the Supreme Court of Justice to the anniversary house, where a petition is presented to the president.

“In accordance with the provisions of the 1994 public regulatory law (Law 491), the signed political parties hereby provide a formal termination of our intention to organize a peaceful public demonstration in Accra on Monday, May 5, 2025.

“We organize this public demonstration in order to express our collective protest against the politically motivated elimination of the highest judge of the republic. This lawsuit represents a significant threat to the independence of the judiciary and signs the trust of the public in the rule of law and the constitutional government,” signed by parts of the communication.

It added: “The demonstration will begin at 5:00 a.m. opposite the Supreme Court, walk through the parliamentary house and close in the anniversary house, where a formal petition is presented.”
