Fiery two-car crash kills 8 in rural kansas

Franklin County, Kan. (KCTV) – The Kansas Highway Patrol reacted to a difficult collision on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. on a two -lane freeway in southern Franklin County.

The two cars collided on the Highway 169 east of the Virginia Road about four miles northeast of Greeley, Kansas. This is about an hour southwest of Kansas City.

The two cars are said to have hit frontally, but that is still being examined. Both vehicles broke out in flames and kill eight people. One person has survived and is in a nearby hospital that has recovered.

The two -lane motorway was closed for almost nine hours from the time of the crash until Monday at 3 a.m.

Families are notified before names are published.
