Tesla's European Death spiral has no end in sight

  • Tesla's turnover in several European countries fell by over 50%in April.
  • The poor performance takes place after a first quarter in the red and a disappointing overall year in 2024.

Although it is still one of the largest electric car manufacturers in the world, Teslas grabs the market month after month. This applies in particular in Europe, where buyers have numerous alternatives to Teslas Aging series of battery -operated cars.

More and more people in the largest EV markets in Europe are Teslas for pretty much everything else, either because they don't want to have anything to do with CEO Elon Musks Oars or simply because they have found a better car somewhere else.

Whatever the reason, the sales figures are disappointing. In April the turnover of Tesla in Sweden was astonishing by 81% – the lowest level since October 2022. In the Netherlands, Tesla's sales decreased by 73.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. It is the same story in Denmark and France, in which the numbers of the American car manufacturer have dropped by 67% or 59%. In Portugal the fall was not so abrupt, but at 33%it is still nothing to write about.

Despite Tesla's efforts, all of this is to rejuvenate its presence in Europe with the introduction of the updated model Y. The electrical frequency of frequency has long been the company's detectors and leads the sales cards in Europe. But even with the styling and the touch of the skin upgrade, which were encouraged with the friendly approval of the facelift, the crossover had a hard time attracting the attention of Europeans.

In the first quarter of this year, all -electric car sales in the European Union rose by 23.9%. Nevertheless, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Tesla's sales in the region rose by 45% to only 36,167 units. At the same time, the Tesla market share rose from 2.4% in the first quarter of this year to 1.3% in the previous year.

On the enlarged market of the European Union, the United Kingdom and the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland), Tesla's turnover fell by 37.3%in the first quarter, since the total sale of EV sales went high 28%.

The updated Tesla model Y has so far not put the car manufacturer's sales figures into the green.

In the United States, the company had a softer fall, but still a fall. During the total sales of 11.4% in the first quarter, the figures from Tesla fell by 8.6%, according to Cox Automotive.

Tesla's recent problems in Europe are shortly after a disappointing year for the name, which was once celebrated as a pioneer in the EV room. Last year, Tesla had recorded the worst global delivery figures for over two years with a decline of 13% compared to the previous year.

The big question now is: can Tesla come back from his sales shop? After the hype about the affordable slate electro pickup, one would argue that Tesla is currently the most needed when it comes to a long-delayed cheap EV. The company seems to have found so much with a more affordable model that may see the light of the day next month. However, we still don't know what this car will be. A report said that it could be a slimmed-down, smaller model y, while Musk himself is helly to sell people a two-door, steering steering robotaxi steering wheel-robotaxi.
