Dolton to swear the new mayor, the Tiffany Henyard's scandal -plagued term end

The village of Dolton will officially have a new mayor on Monday and mark the end of Tiffany Henyard's turbulent term.

Mayor Jason House, who mostly defeated Henyard in the primary race in February and won the local elections last month, will be sworn in with the Clerker Alison Key and the trustee Kiana Belcher, Brittney Norwood and Edward Steave.

The background story:

Dolton received national attention after allegations of Henyard's questionable expenses and federal investigations against them came to light.

House, a native of Dolton, who served as a village administrator during Henyard's term of office, fought her in “Clean House” when the village of an apparently infinite series of negative headlines was exposed.

In April 2024, the FBI in the Dolton Village Hall served to accusations of corruption against local officials, although Henyard was not served. The Dolton Treuhänder voted for the hiring of the former mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot to examine Henyard. Lightfoot announced that the general fund credit of the village is due to a surplus of $ 5.6 million to a deficit of 3.6 million dollars and that the fees for the village credit cards were only more than $ 779,000 in 2023. The village owed the providers an estimated 5 million US dollars.

House has stated that audits are being carried out for the financial years 2023 and 2024 in order to clear up the concerns about financial mismanagement.

Another summons were served in the village in February, which was bound to a land development that was supposedly connected to the state of Henyard's friend.

Henyard's term as superior of Thornton Township was also plagued by scandal and heated meetings, including one that ended in a fight.
