It is a brave step for jazz that ended with a record of NBA last season with a 17-65 record from NBA. Nevertheless, Utah feels good in terms of Hardy's ability to lead and develop talents.

“Will is an incredible teacher, communicator and partner,” said Justin Zanik, General Manager of Jazz. “He invested in individual development and development for us as a team. I am not sure whether someone in the league is better investing in our group. He has made the players believe in their own development and adopt it.”

Hardy received high grades for his ability to connect to players. Towards the end of the season, he received a vote of trust from Walker Kessler, who praised Hardy for his intelligence, and said that the coach “actually takes care of people. He also checks people in front of the square.”

Hardy spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs before he came to the Boston Celtics before the 2021-22 NBA season. He only spent a year in Boston when jazz came in to stop him as head coach.

Hardy was discontinued by jazz before the 2022-23 NBA season. He has put together an 85-161 record with the team in three seasons, good for a win of 0.346.
