'Devastating' Wastewater Lobs

A play group has described the effects of a wastewater leaf over the weekend as “devastating”.

Broad Haven Playgroup, a registered charity at a Pembrokeshire primary school, estimates that it has lost equipment worth thousands of pounds.

The equipment was kept on the playground, which was covered with waste water and was released on Saturday morning by a canal house under the farm.

The Welsh water repaired the leak and renovated the farm, but a large part of the game equipment had to be thrown away.

The equipment was about 18 months old

The head of the Playgroup, Erin Watkins, said that the effects on the outdoor classroom were “devastating”.

She said that raw wastewater that flows through the playground was about one foot deep and the game equipment covered outdoors.

“At the moment we are struggling to find things that are save,” she said.

“We only survive thousands of pounds that were collected by our local community as registered charity organization with donations and grants,” she added.

Ms. Watkins said the equipment was about 18 months old and an assertion would now have to be charged with her insurers, but that would be a “very long process”.

“It will take many, many months because the equipment in the area was tailored,” she said.

Erin Watkins tied back with hair and a black top and a gray cardigan and a red lanyard around the neck. Stacked equipment that is ruined and dirty is visible behind it.

She said the cleaning process with Welsh water was not yet complete.

Jersey Middleton, a parent in the play group, said it was a “heartbreaking weekend”.

“We are lucky enough to have the support of the school, but it's about seeing what we can put together,” she said.

She said that she was shocked by the incident.

“The last thing you want to see is your child's favorite play area, which was wiped out by Kot and what you have. It is very shocking, but this is a tight community.”
