Illinois tragedy: 4 girls killed

The girls who were killed in the tragedy ranged between the ages of 4 and 18.

Four girls were killed when a driver was plowed by an Illinois building in Illinois on Monday afternoon, April 28th. The driver is accused of overthrowing an SUV against the Ynot Camp building in Chatham before he drove directly through him and stormed the other side. The incident took place around 3:20 p.m.

Four students, all of whom are assumed that they are small children and teenagers, died in the crash. According to the state police and the Coroner's Office of the Sangamon County, several others had to be brought to hospitals, as reported by the New York Post.

The girls who were killed ranged between the ages of 4 and 18. They were declared dead at the crime scene, the state police confirmed. While three of the victims were hit by the vehicle in front of the building, one was hit inside.

“Horrified and deeply sad about the deaths”

The Illinois State Police shared details of the tragedy in an X contribution. “The vehicle hit several people outside the building before going through the building. The vehicle also hit several people in the building before leaving the structure of the structure,” the post said.

“The driver and the sole resident of the vehicle were unharmed and to a hospital for evaluation in a hospital,” he added. “The traffic in the Walnut St. between Park St. and Gordon Drive remains up to further terminations. This is an active examination, and no additional information is available.”

The conditions and age of the injured victims have not yet been uncovered. However, the police said a person was flown. The driver was taken into custody.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker expressed his grief in an X post. “I am horrified and deeply sad about the death of children and numerous injuries in Chatham this afternoon,” said Pritzker in an explanation. “Our community has lost a group of lighter and innocent young people who have their whole life in front of them.”

“The parents said goodbye to their children this morning without knowing that it would be the last time. My heart is difficult for these families and the unimaginable grief that they experience – something that should not ever endure a parent,” he added. “MK and I expand all of our prayers and the deepest condolences to everyone who is affected by this unspeakable tragedy.”
