Swedish tacos with bananas take great time – and the internet is horrified

People on Tikkok share Taco recipes in the “Swedish” style and they are bananas.

Swedish tacos are everywhere in Tikkok. In the last week of April, an increase in recipes, explanatory and reactions in connection with a meal in Sweden was published on the platform. When the Swedes from Tikkok celebrated the court on social media, others heard about it for the first time. Many, many breakers hesitated to hug the Swedish version of a Mexican classic.

What is a Swedish Taco?

It is a Mexican taco with a few * additional * ingredients that are prepared with a pre -packed spice package and served on a flour tortilla. In Sweden, the court even has its own weekday (Friday). For the rest of us that only catch up – it is the banana that people really throw away.

TLDR: A taco is mixed with banana slices.

This Swedish Taco -Koch -Tutorial had a modest start: chopped red onions, assembled canned food, painted salsa and tortilla chips. Some unexpected ingredients were burned: yogurt (Gräddfil), roughly chopped cucumber – like a reef on a falafel or a wrap – in the country. Of course there was avocado, salad, beef and cheese. But when the Taco was plated, there was suddenly thick banana slices?

Originally published on February 13, 2025, many of the 2K comments are in response to Westman's Swedish Taco video from April and May. The courts were designed by Gustof Westman himself. According to an interview that was published on April 18 by the publication of Design and Interiors Domino, the designer based in Stockholm is for his aesthetic furniture and viral houseware objects.

Some Swedes deny that bananas are a taco in their culture, but this 8-year-old Reddit-Thread says something else

Comments like these were interspersed throughout the conversation: “We do not use Banana boys; it is a joke,” replied @1Mot02.

The Reddit user Alisonb4993 started a thread entitled: “Strange but important question. What is that?”

The question was accompanied by a photo of a “Taco” that looks like a piece of flat bread that was crowned with beef wood meat, tomatoes, cucumbers and banana slices.

A rather nonchalant answer from a user of R/Nordiccountries was: “Looks like the classic Swedish attitude to Tacos. The terrible bread and the bananas have given it away.”

Cozy Fridays and the Santa Maria Spice Packet

The only thing Swedish Taco -enthusiasts seemed to be agreed was the spice package.

According to a series of TikTok users, “It is not Swedish tacos” without the Santa Maria Spice Mix being stirred into the meat. Santa Maria began in 1911 as a small Swedish spice business.

Swedish grocery stores usually store an entire section of the business with Santa Maria's Taco-Making supplies. In Japan there are vending machines that promote Swedish culture, in which you can acquire this special spice package and the other pre-packed Taco stocks from Santa Maria.

@anitaluisatoks commented: “The 1990s when the Sweden TV was deregulated. The old El Paso and Santa Maria took over comfortably on Friday to encourage people to stay at home.”

The tradition of Fredagsmys (cozy Friday) began in the nineties when Swedish television was deregulated and advertisers were given access to the audience. It is an evening that is committed to enjoying guilty pleasure and watching common, cozy activities like a film. Santa Maria taught Sweden how to produce tacos in her commercials while combining the food with Fridays. Food shops and restaurants in Sweden promoted the trend and offered discounts and specials for meals to take away on Fridays. Even the Sweden Schul -lunch program offers tacos on Fridays. The rest is history.

The banana slices, tho?

According to CultureTrip, bananas were imported into the Swedish neighbors of Norway for the first time at the beginning of the 20th century. The Swedes only got bananas in 1944, but soon they fell in love with the fruits and competed in Norway with who most bananas have been able to eat since then. Sweden wins, partly because the Swedes seem to include bananas in every dish.

Tiktok initially ruled against bananas over Tacos, but like @Mel315123 commented: “We also have Taco spice in America. It is called White People Taco Night.

French tacos may have insulted the Internet even more.
