I went to Antarctic Cruise: biggest disappointment + highlights

Every traveler should experience a cruise in the Anarktis at least once.

Of the delightful, fatal penguins that testify to the stunning, bare icebergs almost every day, it is pure magic.

Of course on the way to the south to Great white useT is not cheap, especially if you connect the countless excursions you want to enjoy on the way.

I sailed into the Antarctic on the Seabourn Venture 2022 and enjoyed my share of top helf cocktails and three-course meals on board.

My Luxury cruise on the 264 passengers, all-suite ship, included daily activities, but I also decided to book some additional excursions from the ship for additional fees.

Surprisingly, the most expensive was my least favorite, but I found two that I would absolutely recommend.

Antarctic Kayaking was everything I hoped to be

The kayak prospects were incredible.

One of my goals for this Travel to the Antarctic Was with Minkewalen to kayak. I am pleased to report that I have achieved this goal during my add-on kayak excursions.

Before my cruise sail sailed, I booked three kayak meetings on different days for about $ 250 per pop.

I switched it off in the five days in which our ship was in antarctic waters. The The weather in the Antarctic can be fleeting and unpredictable, so I wanted to have options if one or two of the trips were canceled.

This experience was incredible. I met many glassy icebergs when I paddled through the cold water in the area. I not only saw whales, I also saw Penguins Pakpoising, where they spread out and out of the water like dolphins.

If you are lucky, you can even see (and hear) a whale trip on this excursion.

I am glad that I booked the photography trip and the Lecutres

One of the best parts of my cruise was a photography trip on a Zodiac cruise (a smaller inflatable ship) with that on board the ship on board photographers. The add-on was also with a number of lessons to record and edit great photos.

Before my cruise, I had invested in a digital camera setup in professional caliber, so I found this photographic journey and subsequent lectures to be particularly valuable.

Our group had enough time to slow down and make several shots of shimmering icebergs on the zodiac. I also learned tips on how I took photos with better lighting in great perspectives.

The best thing is that I went with dozens of high -quality pictures with my family and my friends when I returned home.

During my trip, the excursion was informer and Organized by my ship on board photographer. Now it was built into an entire course called the Image master photography master class Both for amateur and professional photographers.

The add-on is usually limited to 10 people and costs about $ 375 per person per day.

However, I was not impressed by the expensive excursion

The high-end submarines from Seaburns can take hundreds of foot under water at the same time.

Although this required less work than kayaking, it was also far less scenic and much more expensive.

The one-hour underwater adventure cost $ 1,000. I had the feeling that it was too high, especially when I realized how dark the oceans of the Antarctic could be and how little I would actually see.

I didn't really enjoy sitting in a tiny, cramped bubble and not feeling claustrophobic for 60 minutes while I fall down into the dark depths of the ocean.

Some optimistic partly of me had hoped to see penguins or whales, but we only spent the hours to carry out a dense carpet made of immobile seafares with sponges.

According to our guide, my group saw more sea life on this excursion than most, which didn't feel much. It was also difficult to take decent photos on the bottom of the ocean due to fatty sediment and bad light.

To be honest, the coolest thing about the diving trip was to equip my fellow co -ship colleagues in a damn U -Board.
