Wilderer killed over 100 rhinos in South Africa this year

Cape Town, South Africa – Wilderer in South Africa killed more than 100 rhinos in the first three months of this year, most of them in national parks and emphasized an ongoing struggle to protect one of the best -known endangered species.

South African Environment Minister Dion George announced the figures on Monday and said that the Rhinos killed between January 1 and March 31 were poached in national parks.

The average of more than one rhino that was killed per day corresponds to the count of last year and “a strong memory of the relentless threat to our wildlife,” said George.

According to nature conservation groups, South Africa has the largest Rhino population in the world with an estimated 16,000 to 18,000 animals. This includes black and white rhinos.

Black rhinos can only be found in the wilderness in Africa and, according to the international Union, are critical of around 6,400 for the preservation of nature. Around 2,000 are in South Africa.

The South African authorities have concentrated on criminal syndicates in recent years, of which they believe they are behind a large part of the country's Rhino winery.

The Ministry of the Environment welcomed a conviction of what it described as “Kingpin” by Mozambique as “Kingpin”. Simon Ernesto Valoi was sentenced to 27 years in prison by a Mozambique court because he had convicted an operation in the South Africa -Krüger National Park in the South African Krüger National Park, which borders on Mozambique.
