President Donald Trump, Washington, DC, as 2027 NFL Draft Host: Source

President Donald Trump plans to announce Washington, DC, as host of the NFL design of 2027 on Monday afternoon, confirmed a source of the league.

The President's official press plan says that Trump will make a “sporting announcement” at 1 p.m.

According to Axios, who first reported on the news, the goal would be to keep the draft in the National Mall. Axios also reported that the owner of Washington, Josh Harris, and the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be part of the announcement.

The announcement will be made one week after the mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser, has announced that the Washington commanders will return to the city to build a new stadium at the RFK stadium. The commanders have been playing in Landover, MD .. since 1997.

The stadium plan still has to be approved by the city council of DC and would not be open until 2030.

The draft was traditionally held in the Radio City Music Hall in New York City before the 2015 league undertook the annual event. Chicago; Philadelphia; Arlington, Texas; Nashville, Tenn.; Cleveland; Las Vegas; Kansas City, Mo. and Detroit have all captured since then. Last month, Green Bay, Wisconas, organized the 2025 edition with more than 600,000 present in the three days.

Pittsburgh will host the draft of 2026.

According to several reports, Washington, DC and Denver have submitted offers for the organization of the draft of 2027. Washington and Green Bay were finalists for the organization of the draft from 2024 before it was awarded to Detroit – and before the event was awarded to Green Bay in 2025.

Trump, whose relationship with the NFL was temporarily tense in his first term, previously visited the Super Bowl in February and was the Philadelphia Eagles in the White House last week.
