72,000 fish that were killed in Bach after fertilizer corner

Fort Dodge, Iowa (KCCI) – Tens of thousands of fish died after the by -product of the fertilizer had taken into a stream in Iowa.

In the residents nearby, their concerns about the event and the consequences are now expressing.

Lucas Moore said that he had not yet answered questions that have been answered after almost 72,000 fish were killed and swept downwards from Lizard Creek.

“I just asked myself how to get the numbers,” he said. “And did they run in the streams?”

The Fischkill is the result of an unknown amount of fluid fertilizer products that are spilled upholidated by CJ Bio America upstream into the stream.

Moor's concerns go deeper than just the leak.

“It is only, there are chemicals in the water, do you know?” he said.

Moore said he was afraid that the leak will have a permanent effect.

He said this fear would keep his sons away from Lizard Creek in the coming months.

“You won't swim or fish here this summer,” he said.

Information published by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources includes the costs for the killed fish, almost 74,000 US dollars and the price of the investigation, which is almost 2,000 US dollars.

Moore is confident that this is a place where he can enjoy his family again.

“It is a nice area you have worked on,” he said. “And down here there is a nice bike path, and they just made it nice to get children and family down.”
