1 dies in the crash on NB Hwy. 287 in Dillon Rd. Monday, says the Lafayette police

Lafayette, Colo. – One person died on Monday around 6:23 a.m. in an accident on Highway 287 in Nordbound 287 in the Dillon Road.

According to Lafayette PD, the driver of a Nissan pickup drove through the intersection through the intersection with a green light when the driver of a Chevrolet pickup led through the intersection drove a red light. The power of the wreck sent both pickup trucks into a traffic light mast, said Lafayette PD.

The 52-year-old man who drove the Nissan Pickup was declared dead at the crime scene. The 56-year-old man who drove the Chevrolet Pickup was taken to the hospital. According to Sgt. Jeremy Molander with Lafayette PD. No other passengers were in the vehicles.

The wreck is examined. According to Molander, no arrests were made or quotes issued on Monday.

The Lafayette police informed the Morning commuters that they should expect delays in the area due to the crash examination and, if possible, find an alternative way.
