The 48-year-old moved to the United Arab Emirates (VAE) about two decades ago and never looked back. Today he has one of the largest hospital chains in the Gulf and is one of the richest expats in India.

Personal life
Shamsheer Vayalil Parambath was born on January 11, 1977 in Kerala's Kozhikode. He studied medicine at the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal and followed an MD in radiology at Sri Ramacandra Medical College and the Chennai research institute. He also completed a radiology scholarship from the Massachusett General Hospital in Boston, USA.
He is married to Shabeena, the oldest daughter of the billionaire chairman of the Lulu Group, Ma Yusuff Ali. Vayalil and Shabeena have four children.

Early career and business
Vayalil started his career as a radiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. Later he terminated this job in 2007 to found VPS Healthcare, starting with a hospital in Abu Dhabi.
After years of growth and expansion, the company today operates over 23 hospitals and 125 medical centers in the VAE, India, Oman and several other countries. The group employs around 13,000 people and serves more than 43 LAKH patients each year.
The brands, which include part of the VPS group, include Burjeel Holdings, Lifepharma, Lakeshore Hospital, Ziva and Response Plus Holdings.

Philanthropy and awards
Vayalil is known for his philanthropic undertakings and efforts. His VPS Foundation focuses on healthcare and education for under -providing communities. He signed the Giving Pledge in 2018 with Ms. Shabeena and undertook to donate at least half of her assets. In 2014 he was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman – India's highest civilian honor for non -residents (NRIS).

According to Forbes, Vayalil's estimated net assets are $ 2.1 billion or over 17,600 rupees.
