The 2-state hunt ends with a striking crash on the I-520, Wrightsboro

Augusta, Ga. (WRDW/dares) – A police chase crossed the national borders and got a lot of attention on Monday morning before the MPs of Richmond County ended it with a tactical maneuver.

The Sheriff's office in Richmond County supported the Ministry of Public Security in North Augusta in the Chase.

The chase started in North Augusta shortly before 9:50 a.m. and ended on Bobby Jones Expressway near the Wrightsboro Road in Augusta.

According to witnesses, the incident slows down the traffic on both sides of the Savannah River, but apparently never blocked the interstate.

The driver was taken into custody after officials used a PIT maneuver to stop the pick -up, said the MPs.

It was shocking for some passengers.

“I am glad that I got out of the way this morning,” said a spectator who said that the driver seemed to accelerate after the Pit boxing maneuver and the vehicle hit the right wall.

A bike came out of the vehicle and, according to witnesses, went over the wall to the Wrightsboro Road.
