The driver in the multi-car crash near UNLV dies days later

Las Vegas, nev. (FOX5) -Las Vegas Police says the driver who was found for a multi -car crash near UNLV has died.

According to the Las Vegas police, the driver, who was identified as a 42-year-old Nicole Chauvet, died in the Sunrise Hospital on Sunday. The crash occurred at the University Center and Harmon on April 30th.

Seven vehicles were involved and the police said seven people were hospitalized, two of whom were critically injured. Those who were taken to the hospital were finally released while Chauvet was treated in the intensive care unit.

Clark County's forensic doctor informed the U -Bahn about her death on Monday.

The police said Chauvet drove a 2023 Hyundai Elantra to the north towards the University Center towards Harmon at high speed. At the intersection, it would crash into the rear of a Ford transit car stopped.

The crash caused a domino effect in which five other cars would crash into each other.

“The death of the driver marks the 61st traffic -related death in the jurisdiction of the police authority in Las Vegas for 2025,” said the police.

An investigation of the crash continues.
