How does Grand Slam work?

Athletes are divided into six event groups: short sprints (races with 100 m and 200 m), short hurdles (100 mh and 100 m or 110 m), long sprints (200 m/400 m), long hurdles (400 mh/400 m), short distance (800 m/1500 m) and long distance (3000 m/5000 m).

There are 24 “racing drivers” for men and 24 “racing drivers” who have registered for all four Grand Slams – four for each event group. For each single slam, the “challengers” of men and women fill out the rest of the fields for every eight eight event group. Racing drivers who have to withdraw from meetings are replaced by new racing drivers or challengers.

Athletes deserve points based on the results that determine the champions for each event group for every slam.

An overall champion of men and an overall champion of the women's season are crowned at the end of the season.
