Chinnakannan Sivasankaran embodies the classic story of a meteoric increase, followed by a dramatic decline in the business world. The founder of Telecom Giant Aircel, who registered bankruptcy in 2018, recently appeared on the Ranve Show, where he spoke about his journey of loss £7,000 crore and then bounce back.

“My case is pending in front of the Supreme Court. If it is heard, I will get my money back,” the 68-year-old serial entrepreneur told Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia during the episode. Sivasankaran – often known as Siva – said he read Donald Trump's book before turning on bankruptcy and motivating him to continue. “On the same day on which I have registered bankruptcy, I created a plan for what I will do to become a billionaire again,” he revealed.

“I'm not poor. Many people in India think I'm poor. No, I'm bankrupt,” said the founder of Aircel, whose net assets were once estimated at over 4 billion US dollars.

When asked about his most expensive purchases before he reported bankruptcy, Sivasankaran said that he had invested heavily in real estate – several houses around the world and even two private islands.

Private islands, wasteful houses

“What was the most expensive purchase you had made?” Ranveer Allahbadia asked Sivasankaran. “An island,” he replied casually.

Sivasankaran revealed that he had two islands on the Seychelles that he has now sold. He said he bought the islands because he felt that he was living in his own country – “Republic of Siva,” he joked.

“And then I bought houses in the Seychelles, America, Canada, London … I had the desire to have a country of residence on all continents, so I bought it,” added the entrepreneur.

The former CrorePati also revealed that he once had a house in Chennai, for which he paid an amazing payment £524 Crore. The house with 71 rooms has now been demolished.

“When I bought houses, I lived in a chic house – – – £524 Crores, 71 bedroom, “he said.” Then they torn it off. But I bought half of this house back, “he said.” Now I have a 2 hectare property, but I don't want to build the house. First I want to solve all problems. “

During the podcast, Sivasankaran said that he also had a 14 hectare house in Fremont, California, which had taken a helicopter country, and a manor house in Canada, won the prizes.
