The collapse of the Enron Corporation in 2001 was the greatest bankruptcy in the history of the United States. The US government reacted quickly and issued the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)-Tat in July 2002. Enron's failure asked many questions about modern corporate government, accounting and auditing practices.

The Enron Corporation was an American company that was founded by Kenneth Lay in 1985. The company was created from the merger of Houston Natural Gas, Lay's former company and internationalth. Enron's nuclear operation concerned trading in goods, energy and associated services.
