A 78-year-old man was identified by the authorities as a driver who was killed in Cohasset on Saturday when his pickup was driven by a commuter train train.

John Canney, a resident of Cohaset, suffered fatal injuries when his truck was hit at the Bauchwood Street Railroad Crossing around 11:20 a.m., the district prosecutor of the district in Norfolk said on Sunday. He was declared dead by first aiders at the scene.

Over the weekend, Cohasset police chief William Quigley told the Boston Herald that there were no problems with the Crossing Lane equipment. Since the intersection is in a “No Whistle-Zone”, the trains in the area do not sound horns or pipe unless there is something in the way.

The office of the DA said that the examination of the crash continues to continue.
