Celtics-Knicks: 5 snack bars to New York used in game 1 shocker

The Knicks delete a 20-point deficit, stun Celtics in overtime

Boston – The New York Knicks sure know how to get out of cutting.

After the Knicks in the regular 0-10 season against the three best teams of the League Boston, Cleveland and Oklahoma City-Gut, they achieved the first victory against the group on Monday in game 1 of the Eastern Conference half-time from 20 points to the Celtics 108-105 in the Eastern Conference semi-final.

OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson each ended 29 points and combined 39 in the last 22 1/2 minutes when the Knicks exceeded the Celtics 53-30. Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns each had great buckets in extra time, and the Knicks finally received stops against the team, which they broke in the regular season of 130.2 points per 100 possession.

The Celtics had all six top boys (their starter plus Al Horford) for the 19th time in their 88 games this season. But Kristaps Porzi ņģis had to deal with an illness and missed the second half on Monday, and Sam Hauser lost in the third quarter due to an ankle injury.

Here are some notes, quotes, numbers and films when the Celtics have fallen back in a playoff series for the first time in the past two years …

1. Celtics' criminal offense and sets a record

In the first round against a defense in Orlando, which was the best in the league when limiting 3 points, the Celtics made only 40% of their shots from beyond the arch, which achieved an enormous decline in the NBA record rate of 54% in the regular season.

Now they play a completely different defense that made it possible for them to bind the record for Made 3S in a game (29) on the opening evening. And on Monday, the Celtics presented a few NBA records on the most 3-point attempts and most missed 3s in a playoff game. Boston shot 1 15-against-60 (25%) in game. These 60 attempts made up 62% of their total shots.

Some of these 3 Series were good shots. Some of them … not that much.

The Celtics are a team that can fluctuate between targeted and apathetic possessions, and they won the championship last year because there were very few of the latter in the course of the off -season. But there was more than a couple on Monday.

The Knicks offer the Celtics two defenders – Brunson and cities – that they can attack to achieve advantages. After cities in bad difficulties, Boston turned to Brunson in the second quarter when they exceeded the Knicks 35-20 to take control of the game. They were 1: 9 from the 3-point area in the second, but 12-to-15 in the arch and 8-against-9 from the free-wing line.

In the second half they tried only seven 2-point shots and six free throws.

Jayson Tatum met two consecutive 3-pointers to reach the Celtics at the end of the third quarter, but made himself a little too comfortable beyond the bow. A few possessions later he achieved an advantage when the Celtics Brunson aimed, but started for a long time instead of attacking a seam in New York defense.

And when Tatum stood and watched his shot, OG anunoby ran out for a transition from Dunk …

“In these moments when the other team has become dynamics,” said Jaylen Brown afterwards.

There were a few possessions in the fourth quarter, in which Brown attacked early on the clock and reached the line to curb the flood a little. But these attacks were only a few, with Tatum missing 3 counters on several large possessions on the route. Of his 15 3-point attempts, 14 were dribbles.

“For the most part, we fought for a good look throughout the game,” said Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. “But they could find 5-10 in which we could be better.”

2. The defenders of Knicks play big games

The Knicks were not just innocent spectators at this end of the floor. And their best defenders played some big games in game 1.

Anunoby was the primary defender, so he is the guy who was taken from the ball when the Celtic's screens set on Brunson and cities. In the middle of the fourth quarter, the cities of Tatum were able to stop initial attack. This made it possible to get Anunoby in front of his husband and to distract Tatum's passport back to Al Horford with active hands.

Anunoby took the ball in the other direction for a quick dark, who tied the game …

OG anunoby steal and dunk

In the most part, this transitional possibilities were large in an ugly game. And thanks to the defense of Bridges, the Knicks have another big one in extra time.

The cities were caught on Brown, who crossed him and drove on the left. Bridges Grub from Horford in the corner and put his hand on the ball. Brown was able to restore it, but when he tried to bring it to Horford, Bridges was back. He steered the pass, jumped out of the borders to save the ball, and somehow brought it to Josh hard …

Steal and save Mikal Bridges

The Knicks had no advantage in the transition, but Tatum allowed anunoby to cut behind them for a dark. With Tatum's foul and Anunobys on the following free throw, the Knicks had a three-point lead that they would not give up.

3. Knicks get just enough from the attack by Horford

Horford is not the goal that Brunson and the cities have in defense. At the age of 38, he was pretty good this season in the pick-and-roll.

But the Knicks have to attack someone, and with Porzi ° C for most of the game, Horford was the guy.

New York set 19 Ball screens for Brunson with Horfords defender on Monday. This was most of it for the combination of ballhandler/screen defender in game 1, as according to Second Spectrum Tracking. The Knicks only achieved 0.75 points per chance on these occasions, but in the fourth quarter they received a few important buckets from this campaign.

First, there was an evil, behind the back dribble into a streptback 3, which increased the kinks with just over four minutes three minutes. And then another step 3 on an isolation against Horford (which switched the screen) the next time.

The Celtics are generally averse to putting two on the ball, but they did it the next time they were owned. And they looked excellent behind the double team and forced anunoby airball when the shooting clock expired …

Celtics Defense Forces forces Airball Armed Forces

It seems doubtful that we will see this flash-and-rotat strategy very much from the Celtics in the future, but it is interesting to know that you can manage it if necessary.

4. Knicks hit the corners

The reluctance of the Celtics to put two on the ball is one reason why they don't give up the corner 3s.

The best 3-point attempts are those that come from the corners, and Boston was connected to the Houston Rockets with the fewest 3 points attempts from the regular season.

Although their opponents shot 41.4% out of the corners, the Celtics only allowed 1.5 brands per game. And in the first round, the magic made only eight corner 3s in five games.

The Knicks made almost as many in game 1 and shot 7: 11 out of the corners. And that included two of the biggest shots of the night.

With 1:15 in the regulation, Brunson pulled away from another screen and put Jrue Holiday behind. Tatum had to help and Derrick White had two boys to protect himself on the strong side of the floor. One of them was Anunoby, who relieved a corner 3 to put on the Knicks two.

In the extension after the Knicks took over a three-point lead over the anunoby and 1 crossing Dunk, he published Tatum. Brown didn't doubt himself, but he didn't stay on bridges in the strong corner. And he was caught in no way when Anunoby made the kick-out pass …

Mikal Bridges 3-pointer

These first six overtime hours were avoidable … if Tatum Anunoby did not leave him in the transition and when Brown protected someone in the following possessions.

5. The stars sit for large defensive possessions

The Celtics had the chance to win this game at the end of the regulation, and the chance to bind it at the end of the extension. And both times the Knicks Boston's main goals took off the ground.

When they got a stop late in the fourth stop, the Celtics called 28.1 seconds ahead. At that time, Brunson and the cities were replaced by Miles McBride and Mitchell Robinson.

Horford set a screen for Tatum, Robinson switched it up and Tatum missed one of these stopback 3s above the 7-foot.

When they were on the floor with a live ball rebound and Brunson and cities on the ground at the end of the extension, the Celtics Timeout did not want to call. But they were a little confused and Brown only got the ball against the cities until only six seconds were left.

Another problem – the Knicks had to give a foul. Cities immediately reached for Brown and allowed Knick's coach Tom Thibodeau to take its stars off the ground again. The Celtics then called on timeout, but bridges blew their game outside of use by steel the Ball from Brown and sealed the victory for the Knicks.

You will try to steal another one on Wednesday in game 2 (7 p.m. ET, TNT).
