Man accused of car accident, possible motif identified

Cottage Grove, Wis.-Jeffrey Endres, a 49-year-old Cottage Grove man, was charged with the car accident, in which a woman and her dog were killed on April 28th.

Dr. Kami Hansen, a chiropractor and board member of the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce, died last Monday evening when a car jumped through a fence, storming through a fence and came to rest in a Böschel near the Grand Appliance and the TV storage house. Kami Hansen was hit and killed by the car.

Endres, who said the police, was the driver of the car, is now facing an intentional murder of the first degree, two counts of the intentional murder to the first degree and a number of abuse of animals.

After the criminal complaint, Kami Hansen was thrown 25 to 30 feet after kicking off the vehicle. The police said it seemed that she had hit the side of the Grand Appliance building. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but died during the operation.

When arriving at the crime scene, the law enforcement authorities not only found that Kami Hansen had been beaten, but also her husband Paul Hansen and her son, who in a criminal complaint as “youth victim 1st” was identified. The child was identified as the couple's son, Riley, on Spectrum News 1. Riley was taken to a nearby hospital and was operated on, but Paul Hansen did not demand immediate medical care according to the complaint.

The law enforcement authorities saw a overturned vehicle at the scene, but there were no inmates in the car. A man who was nearby identified himself as an endres and as a driver of the car. He seemed injured and was taken to the hospital.

The law enforcement also said that the dog's dog, a black boxing bull terrier, was found dead at the scene. They were all on a family dog ​​walk. The family went on the sidewalk at the time of the incident.

Paul Hansen told the law enforcement authorities that he accelerated a car while walking. When he looked in the direction of the car, he said that it was driving directly towards the family.

According to the complaint, one of the other children of the couple observed the incident from the family's backyard and ran to the scene and said: “He tried to beat her.” According to Kami Hansen's obituary, the couple has three sons.

Paul Hansen said he saw Endres crawling out of the car that his family had hit. He said Endres was a neighbor and until recently a close friend of the family.

“I am confident that he intentionally tried to kill us or [Juvenile Victim 1] At least ”, Paul Hansen told the law enforcement authorities according to the criminal complaint.

Paul Hansen said that his children and the children of Endres had participated in the same gymnastics team and became “best friends”. The families lived on the same street. In March 2025, however, Riley was accused of having abused one of the underage children of Endres. The two families made the contact, said Paul Hansen.

A trial took place on March 28, 2025. Endres said he didn't want Riley to leave the neighborhood or near the residences. However, Riley was released from custody and was allowed to stay in his family during the court proceedings.

On April 23, five days before the car accident, Endre's police reports in connection with the allegations in which his child was a victim. Edited police reports were sent back to Endres on April 28 at 3:43 p.m. less than three hours later. The crash occurred.

According to the criminal complaint, Paul Hansen said that Endres “deliberately hit his family with his vehicle in response to the allegations that his son, Juvenile victim, had done 1 criminal activities with the defendant's minor child.”
