K-IDOL Lee Seung-Gi cuts relationships with in-laws about alleged stock manipulations

The South Korean heart-throat Lee Seung-Gi has separated relationships with his in-laws after his father-in-law was suspected of being involved in the stock prices.

The 38-year-old singer actor closed the knot with the South Korean actress Lee Da-in, 32, in April 2023. They welcomed their first child, a girl, in harmony in February 2024.

Some of Lee Seung-Gis fans had objected to marriage because he feared that his clean image would be affected, since the family of Lee Da-in was supposedly involved in a financial scandal.

Her mother is the experienced actress Kyeon Mi-Ri and her stepfather is businessman Lee Hong-Heon. The 60 -year -old Kyeon is best known for her role as antagonist Lady Choi in the Hit Period Drama Jewel in the Palace (2003 to 2004).

Lee Hong-Heon was acquitted by an appellate court in 2019, the South Korean Supreme Court opened the judgment in June 2024 and sent the case back. He was recently arrested for his alleged participation of stock corporation manipulation in connection with a company for renewable energies, reported the South Korean online news agency Chosun BIZ on April 29.

“My father-in-law was documented in a court proceedings for allegations of illegal activities that had been continuously raised against him, but recently he was once again charged by the authorities because of similar illegal acts,” said Lee Seung-Gi in a press release that was published by his agency Big Planet on April 29.

“As someone who has been waiting for the result of trust between family members, I was destroyed by the misconduct of my father -in -law.”

With regard to earlier statements that he had made to defend his father -in -law, he said: “I deeply regret the inattentive remarks that I made last year without sufficiently checking the matter in connection with my father -in -law.

“I believe that adequate punishment for illegal acts must be issued, and I sincerely apologize to the victims who have suffered due to my premature judgment.”

The actor, who played in K dramas like Maus (2021) and the Law Cafe (2022), added: “The trust between the family members was irreparably damaged due to this incident.

“After a lot of considerations, my wife and I decided to cut relationships with my parents -in -law. I bow again and apologize for causing concern and disappointment because of my personal affairs.“”
