Google Material 3 expressive leaks before official unveiling, preview of the next generation Android interface

Google Material Design 3 Expressive, often referred to as M3 expressive or just material 3 Expressive, is the latest update for your design style for Android, which is a big focus on Google I/O 2025 (May 20 to 21). It builds on material design 3 (also known as material that she announced in 2021 with Android 12) by making user interfaces more lively, emotional and appealing.

In contrast to the great change of material design 2 to 3, M3 expression is an optimization of the material design 3, no overall procurement. Some call it “material 3.5” online, which means that it is small improvements, no great shift. Google says it is “the most researched design update of all time” with 46 studies in which more than 18,000 people are involved. The tests showed that users found important screen elements up to four times faster with expression designs, and this had fallen across the age groups, especially from younger users (80% of the “zoomer” loved it).

You will see bright colors, larger buttons and different shapes (as rounded squares for action keys) to highlight screens. For example, a leakage E -Mail -pp had a colorful, larger “Send” button above the keyboard to capture the recognition. It can be seen in Android 16 Betas and has smaller fonts, more white space, arrows for submenus and colorful icons similar to Oppos Coloros.

Pulled images show an updated look with a slimmer lower bar, renamed tabs (such as “clock” in “World Clock”) and a new font. It is made with Jetpack Compose, the modern design tool from Google. Emotion -based topics and personalized details (such as changing colors based on the time of day or the mood of the user) use Gemini Nano and new APIs.

While M3 is shown expressive in the E/A 2025, it can take months for Android 16 (later expected in 2025) like previous material design updates. Some parts are already in Android 16 betas, but it is not clear whether the final version uses the new design completely.
