The NHL playoffs are divided in the United States between the ESPN family of networks and Turner Family channels. The two media companies are located in the fourth year of their seven -year contracts with the league.

When do the NHL playoffs start?

The first round of the NHL playoffs begins on Saturday, April 19. The Stanley Cup final begins in June.

How do the NHL playoffs from 2025 work?

Sixteen teams qualify for the NHL playoffs, eight from every conference. The three top teams receive the six top seeds in the playoff clip of their respective conference. The remaining two places in each conference will be filled with the next two highest places, regardless of the division. In theory, a division could send five teams to the playoffs, while the other sends only three.

In the first round, the division winner with the best record will be in every conference with the worst wildcard team. Then the teams who took second and third place in their division will be exposed. The winners of these games play each other in the second round. These winners will find it in the conference final and send a representative to the Stanley Cup final from every conference. Every round of the playoffs is the best-of-seev, so the first team that wins four games will progress.

How many teams do the NHL playoffs do?

A total of 16 teams do the playoffs – eight by the Eastern Conference and eight from the Western Conference.

For each conference, the three best teams of every division are guaranteed in the post -season, with the winners of the divisions earning the two best seeds.

The last two playoff places in every conference go to wildcard teams that have the two best records from the rest of the field. This means that you can come from the same department.

How many rounds are in the NHL playoffs?

There are four rounds in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the first round, the top team of the conference plays the second wildcard team. The other division winner takes over the first wildcard team. Teams No. 2 and No. 3 in each division face each other.

After that, the teams are not rated again in the second round. Rather, the series winner of Team No. 2 and No. 3 for a division plays the winner of the series between your division winner and a wild card team

After the second round, the last two teams who are in the conference final in every conference have. The winner of each conference finale hits the Stanley Cup final.

How many games are in a series?

Each series, regardless of the round, will play a best-of-Seven series, which means that the first team to win four games in the next round.

Each series is played in a format 2–2–1–1–1, which means that the team plays the first two games in his home with the better record while his opponent organizes the next two games. The teams then alternate who organizes in the last three games in the series when they are pushed so far.
